Making a "Hydra" Penta-Bow - Extreme Penobscot Bow Build
Building a Penobscot style bow with the use of hand tools. I used black locust wood for this bow build. The bows is drawing 60lb at 26" (draw weight can be adjusted by twisting bow strings). To combine all the bows together I used flax twine and hide glue. What a beast of a bow it is!

Recurve Bow from Scratch - Making a Black Locust Bow Step by Step
That was perfect 👍🏻 😊👍🏻
I gotta make one and compare it to my recurve bow that I have
Windforce!
just a fancy cablebacked bow with all those arms.
Yes sir
ever make one out of root? i make traditional phenobscot bows out of root from fresh fallen trees
Never thought about it, really cool idea!
But how does it perform?
It shoots quite fast but haven't tested the speed yet
What wood do you use?
Black locust
I mean it’s cool and all but it’s a little impractical Seems like it needs some type of silencer I’ve shot at a deer before and missed and it never heard me or seen me He just ran to the tree line and stopped and I grabbed another arrow and shot again Bows are a very stealthy weapon if used for stealth
I bury my bows in leaves to keep them from drying
Thank you for showing me how hopefully next time you will be able to show me for good lessons ❤❤❤
Glad it's usefull, good luck with your build!
Congrats!
Thanks!
Dang, I commented on a later post about you not firing it, I cam die happy now. Shoutout to tanktolman for showcasing it and ur channel in one of his vids
Bro just edged all of us by not firing it smh
No offense, but you look like you picked up a kids bow. Only partial draw to the shoulder. Worthless at most ranges above 20 yds. IMO good looking bow, just the same
It's low poundage bow, that's true
Need to make a crossbow version that would be siiick
Cool idea! If only crossbows were legal here in Poland...
@DreamcraftBows oh dang I didn't know that, well hey food for though. Well anyway cool craftsmanship brother!
Need to make a crossbow version that would be siiick
Awesome idea!
Keep up the good work 💪 I dream to craft my own . I already collect oak and wild olive wood
Thank you and good luck with your build!
How much lbs is it though
Very nice
Thank you!
I'm very curious how this bow compares to more conventional bow designs.

Shut up and take my money!!!!!!! This is awesome!!!
Glad you like it!
What kind of wood finish is that?
Water based varnish
Maid wark
+100 IQ for not named this longbow ❤
True!
Backing bow is to short to work properly. The more it bends the more draw does it add and yours is too short so you are not bending it but rather pulling its ends in opposite ways
I'm writing this as a physycist, there may be the reason why you don't want your backing bow to be longer but from technical point of view backing bow should be 75-90% of the main bow's length dependig on the backing bow's curve
I have not b een able to find a source for air dried or green wood here in Arizona. Any suggestions on a source?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Am I the only one who was questioning the tillering? That thing was all over the place. Hinge on one limb, no movement past that point.
Cool looking bow! ✊
Thank you!
Don't forget who invented this concept 🇬🇧🇧🇩👌
Penobscot 👌
Impressed with your work as always. Draw weight?
Appreciate it. 60lb at 26” 👊
@@DreamcraftBows epic! Ive made two limb penobscots, but I'm inspired to go further
What is this beauty am I in heaven?
Ace combat 7 music😅
Have you ever thought about using it for hunting?
Bowhunting is not allowed here in Poland
@@DreamcraftBowsthat sucks! What kind of wood did you use for this bow?
These shorts motivate me
Good luck with your projects!
Yet another masterpiece
Appreciate it!
E ovaj je dobarrr... Svaka cast
I would like to see what that does through a chrono at a 28 inch draw. Very cool concept
Thanks! Here is more info on these bows: ruclips.net/video/-qsSLjJf7UE/видео.htmlsi=JVaOPea_8kQQS2Ag
What moisture content do you start at with your wood? Incredible videos so far, thanks for sharing.
I don't measure it to be honest, I "feel" when the wood is ready touching it
the only thing I would say you did a bad job on is the finish. should of sanded it like they polish a knife.
Appreciate your feedback!
Okay i have to ask. Im assuming the extra "arms" reduce the pull strength needed but does it shoot farther? Is there more tension?
Would love you to do one out of Osage orange
I made 2 Osage bows already, hope to build more in the future
what wood, how long will it dry out before you split it, will it dry more after split or do you start the forming of the limbs directly?
How much do you want to make me one?
